Washington, IA police say threats against school weren't valid

School officials and Washington, Iowa police agree: threats against the school district last week that prompted closure of all Washington schools Friday were made up.

Police chief Greg Goodman and Washington Schools Superintendent Jeff Dicks say their investigation found that the student who was accused of making threats of violence never did them-and didn't even know about them.

Instead, the district says two other students posted "falsified information" against the other student accusing him of making the threats.

In a news release, school officials and police say the two students who invented the threats could face disciplinary or "legal consequences."

Police and the school are not releasing the names or any other information about the two at this time.
